Notes - Will of William Reddrop of Willey Farm

In the name of God amen I William Reddrop of Bickley in the parish of Malpas in the county of Chester being of perfect mind and memory do make and ordain this my last will and testament. First I commend my soul unto the hand of God who gave it and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in a decent and christian burial at the discretion of my executors who I shall hereafter appoint. Then I give to Richard Reddrop my son my estate in Cuddington in the parish of Malpas and county of Chester for the sum of eleven hundred pounds which I acknowledge to have received on the 24th March 1803 and my son Richard Reddrop to pay my wife Anne Reddrop his mother twenty pound a year for and during her natural life after my decease and to enter upon the said estate at and from Lady Day last for his own right and property for and in consideration of the sum above rec'd and paying my wife the said twenty pound a year by two payments half yearly for and during her natural life after my decease. I give my wife the interest of two hundred pound for and during her natural life and at her decease to be equally divided among my six sons or their heirs share and share alike. I also give my wife Ann Reddrop house room at the Willey or a room to herself for and during her natural life if so long my son Charles Reddrop's possession together with any bed she shall choose and every thing thereto belonging to the said bed and four pair of sheets also what furniture my said wife and my executors shall think proper to furnish a room if she should like to live by herself or remove anywhere else and the said bed and furniture to be her own and at her disposal. And my son Chas. Reddrop to find and provide clear of any expense to my said wife a sufficient quantity of coals for fuel either at the Willey or where she may choose to reside. I give my son Thos. Reddrop of Hinton the sum of forty pound then I give my son Joseph Reddrop the sum of two hundred pound. Then I give my son Charles Reddrop the good will of my farm called the Willey all my stock and remaining part of my household furniture and everything I die possessed of when the said sum of forty pound is paid to my son Thos Reddrop and the said sum of two hundred pound is paid to my son Joseph Reddrop and all my lawful debts and funeral expenses and administration of this will are paid and discharged then my son Chas. Reddrop to have quiet and peaceable possession of the said farm and stock only providing as before mentioned my sufficient coals for fuel for and during her natural life clear of any expense to my said wife. And if my son Chas. Reddrop should suffer Alice Guest to come to the Willey either for a wife or a servant then my executors are immediately to take possession of the said farm stock and twenty for my said wife and her heirs and my son Chas Reddrop to have no concern with the legacy bequeath to him in this will. Then I constitute make and ordain Richard Reddrop William Reddrop and Thomas Reddrop my sons Executors to this my last will and testament hereby revoking and disanulling any wills by me at any time made. Declaring this to be my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this tenth day of April one thousand eight hundred and three.
