  • Notes
    • 1900 US CENSUS

The 1900 Census records reflect or or interpreted to reflect Richard junior's son as being 'Chas'. Oral history from Jane Leclerc has it that the Read information was obtained from her grandfather 'Charles Abraham Read' and with her great grandfather being idetified as 'Richard Read' junior.

The conclusions which can be drawn from the above information :
      a) the 1900 records reflect Charles as 'Chas' - possibly his nickname or
      b) the handwriting on the Census is not sufficiently legible.
