  John James Gordon (son) birth cert. states she was born in England and was twenty three in 1856. She was unable to write and placed her mark on her son's birth registration. death certificate lists place of birth as Somersetshire. States parents as Joseph Bourier and Hannah Parker. Martha had a bible that was given to her by her mother when she left home in Bath to sail to Australia. Later she met John Gordon in Australia and married him. A son John James was born, also a daughter. The bible was later given to her son. When he died it was given to his granddaughter Jean Gordon, daughter of Alfred Gordon. Jean later became Mrs Horace Oakly.
