Notes - Richard was granted "house and grounds to enjoy after the death of my wife" in his father's will of 1716. Probate was granted in 1733.
Richard's will of 24 April 1765 (Richard the elder, blacksmith of Kilkhampton) leaves the following:
Daughter Ann Ham, three plots of ground
Daughter Elizabeth Addams, £4 per annum
Daughter Joan Gent, £4 per annum
Daughter Mary Palmer, £4 per annum
These sums to be paid out of my estate called Ludon
Son John, house and garden called Prestacott
Grandson John Surgent, the son of Richard Surgent, two guineas
Grandson George Walkey, one guinea
Son Richard, executor, all the rest of my good and chattels.
Probate was granted on 17th January 1766.
There was some dispute over the will with several depositions being taken but they are very hard to read.
