  BIRTH DATE CONFUSION Some confusion exists as to Alfred Jame's date of birth (listed above as Dec 1951). The confusion derives from three factors 1) Alfred & Rose Kisiah Capel's wedding record on 16 Oct 1878 reflects Alfred's age as '21', thus giving rise to the calculation he was born in 1856/57. 2) Alfred's death record of 18 June 1921 (in regards to his death on 13 June 1921) records his age at death as '66' and thus implying his birth around 1855/56/57. The initial conclusion therefore is the Chorlton birth record (original not seen) does not refer to 'our' Alfred - HOWEVER , in the course of research the following fairly definitive link was established a) The baptism register of St Paul's church of Durban, Natal, South Africa record that on 7 Aug 1887 two Tomlinson baptisms took place (Lionel Claude ; son of Alfred AND William Henry ; son of William Henry) b) A 'William Henry Tomlinson' was born in 1859 (according to the England & Wales birth registration index 1837 - 2008). The birth location was the same as that of Alfred James Tomlinson some eight years earlier ie Chorlton, Lancashire, England ! This just cannot be a coincidence. The two are almost certainly brothers and who migrated to Durban South Africa and who's wives amazingly coincidentally gave birth to sons on the same day ! DEATH Cause of death was a cerbal apoplesay BROTHER ? An extract of the baptism of 'Lionel Claud' on Aug 7 1887 also had immediately above a Willam Henry - born of William Henry and Charlotte Aniie Tomlinson - bron 30 April 1887 ie same date as Claude. This may well be Alfred's brother ??? Did they come out togther ex Manchester BAPTISM Baptised on 23 Oct 1853 at St Georges Church, Hulme , Lancaster [5]
