Pastor G. E. Wilson, Deloraine
The funeral of Pastor George Ebank Wilson (40), of the Baptist Church,Deloraine, who died in the Launceston Public Hospital on Friday, took place in the Deloraine General Cemetery on Saturday afternoon. He was a son of Pastor and Mrs. George Wilson, of Upwey, Victoria, and was born in India, where his father was a missionary. Mr. Wilson was stationed at the Gulf of Carpentaria, where, as a missionary, he contracted fever. He arrived at Deloraine to take up his position only three weeks ago, and conducted services on the first Sunday following his arrival. On the Monday he was officially welcomed, and the following day he entered hospital.He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Pauline Wilson, one son, Bryan, and one daughter, Rosemary. As the casket was borne from the church the "Dead March" was played by Mrs. R. H. Jago. The service at the graveside was conducted by Rev. R. W. Dobbinson (Launceston). Rev. A. E. Chamberlain (St. Marks. Deloraine), Rev. R. H. Jago (Methodist Church. Deloraine), and Rev. D. Black. The carriers were Messrs. C. W. Hall. V. Ratcliffe. A. Bounds, A. J. McKendrick.The chief mourners,were Pastor Ian Wilson (brother) and Mrs. Cheechi (sister). The floral tributes included wreaths from the Delorine Baptist Church and fellow clergymen. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Mr. B. J. Cameron, Deloraine.
